How many days a week do I need to workout?
This question can only be answered effectively after you have talked with a trainer.
It depends upon your present physical condition, your goals, schedule etc. You may "need"
to workout with a trainer four days a week, but only have time for two days a week.
In this case, the trainer will work with you to teach you a program that you can
follow on your own for the days that you cannot be accompanied. This, of course,
necessitates your willingness and ability to implement such a program.

I have done everything, but I still can't lose weight. Is there anything you can do for me?
It is often the case that people exercise regularly and are unable to
lose weight, not because what they are doing is wrong but rather because
how they are doing it is not correct. There are some very simple principles
you need to follow that cover cardiovascular training and resistance training
which will help you burn fat and lose weight at a much faster rate.
Losing body fat effectively is the result of a combination of a specific diet
and calorie burning aerobic exercise carried out consistently for a particular
duration of time. We usually find that when people think they are doing
"everything," one or more of the elements specified above is either not
being carried out correctly or is not being carried out at all. Sometimes
people will try a variety of fad diets one after the other for short periods
of time and then give up. Or they may get on the treadmill at the gym for short
time periods with very high heartbeats. Body fat reduction or "getting lean" is a
requested goal of people who come to us. Our trainers will work with you on an
effective diet and fat-burning exercise program and will discuss how long you
need to sustain this program to achieve results. They will then help you to attain
the discipline and motivation to carry it out.

Next month I’ll travel to another country and stay there for a long period. Can you recommend trainers other than in Belgium?
At the moment I can recommend trainers in Belgium but not as yet trainers in other countries.
When you look for someone I advise paying attention to the following points. Your
trainer should have the correct skills and experience. Ask him/her to show you their
qualifications. Only highly qualified sports teachers, physiotherapists and sports doctors
can give you the right advice. Make sure he/she is experienced in the things you want
to be coached in (diet, exercise, particular sports).
A trainer can’t give you the right advice unless they set a good example and have
already tried and tested what they intend to teach.
Something you obviously can’t predict is the relationship between you and your
trainer. Ask to have a face-to-face talk before making any decision.
If you feel positively about the trainer, give it a chance but don’t make any
long-term commitment at the start. But most of the time it will work. Good luck!

I do hundreds of sit-ups but still have no definition in my abs. How do I get a six-pack?
Getting abdominal definition is only partially accomplished through specific
workouts involving crunches or flexion of the abdominal muscles.
For the most part "definition" of abs is accomplished the same way that
"definition" of any other body part is accomplished: by losing the fat that
obscures the muscle and building the muscle. Losing the fat is done through diet
and aerobic exercise, not abdominal crunches (or sit ups). But even if you lose the
fat, to see a nicely developed six-pack, the abdominal muscles need to be developed.
This is accomplished by intense ab crunches with or without added resistance for
about eight to fifteen repetitions, four to eight sets, about three times a week.

I don't have the discipline to train on my own, but I want to make my fitness a long- term commitment. Over how long a period will a trainer work with me?
How long an extended period of time you work with a trainer depends upon many factors.
These include the relationship between you and a trainer, availability, scheduling and
logistics. Often trainer/client relationships extend over many years.

After I start working with a trainer when will I begin to see results?
This is an impossible question to answer without knowing your present condition and
training history. There are many variables, including your specific starting point,
genetics and metabolism as well as your consistency, commitment and the time you are
willing to put into training. You will get results commensurate with what you put into
your training and dieting. Also, we can set up programs that are aimed to work very
quickly, but involve exceedingly stringent dieting and training. Generally we like to
suggest that, if you are starting from a very low level of fitness, you take it slower
at the beginning so you can accustom your body gradually to a training program. We want you
to be fit and fabulous for your lifetime, not just weeks or months!

I spend a lot of time on the road as part of my sales job and really struggle to find any healthy lunches and snacks. My sedentary lifestyle means that I have put on a lot of weight. Do you have any advice on how this can be avoided?
With the best intentions in the world, it is often incredibly difficult to travel on
roads and continue any form of healthy eating plan. I don't see why it is so difficult
for companies to offer their customers good quality fruit, great salads, and healthy
snacks. If you are travelling at breakfast time you should be looking out for decent
quality muesli with low fat yoghurt or semi-skimmed milk. There is no reason at lunch
time that you shouldn't be able to find a good piece of fish or chicken with a salad,
perhaps with some mixed beans, or brown rice. When you want a snack you should be able
to reach for fruit, vegetables, nuts etc. But in many places you struggle to find these
things. What we suggest is to get into the habit of having your meals prepared the day
before and put them in your car. In my experience it is hard in the beginning, but with
a little advice and coaching it works. You’ll get more and more motivated as soon as
you start to see and feel it works.

How do I get started?
Once you have sent us a mail or filled in the form, we’ll call you.
Consultations are set up by phone only. Then we’ll have a no obligation first
meeting to see if the expectations on both sides are in line. When we both
feel good about each other’s offers and expectations, the sessions can start
after the check ups we’ll have discussed the first time we’ve met.
|
|
| |
Once I begin, am I obligated to continue?
Our commitments are only made for short time periods.
Even when you want to train with us for years, we feel great
about the fact you are free to skip whenever you like. For us it’s the
right way to build up a trusting relationship with the people we train
|
|
| |
How long is a training session?
We’ll meet you each time for one hour. Your trainings sessions may be longer
for instance the trainer may suggest you warm up and cool down before and
after he meets you for the training session. But these things depend on the
way you need to train in order to have maximum benefit from your training sessions.
